Katherine's September Favourites

For favourites this month I have two skincare and two makeup picks. My skin has been acting out a bit and I've been having more spots then normal this month and found a great combination to keep them at bay. For prevention I've been using the Erno Lazlo Transphuse Night Serum. This is a really pricy serum at $200 a bottle. I was lucky enough to get it as a deluxe sample to try it out and see if it's worth the money. This is an anti-aging serum – something I don't think I need but I must say it has really helped my skin. I have a more even tone and my spots seem to not be as bad since I've started using this serum. I actually really like it a lot, something I was super hesitant about because of the crazy price tag. For me I think this isn't going to be an everyday addition to my routine but something I go for when I need to help get my skin back on track.

When those spots sadly become acne I have been using the Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment. This products claims to reduce spots in as little as 4 hours. It has 2% salicylic acid which helps to reduce the size, swelling and redness. I have been using this at nighttime and putting it directly on my spots and have noticed a big difference. For those under the skin zits I find this really helps them go away before they get any worse.

On a nicer note, for makeup I have been loving The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in 01 Light Matte. For my skin tone it is often difficult to find a colour that is not too muddy. I am super pale and I find that I am still able to use this bronzer and achieve a natural look. Even though it's getting colder outside I'm not ready to say goodbye to sun-kissed skin just yet.

I picked up a new lip product this month – the YSL Kiss and Blush in 09 Rose Epicurien and have been loving wearing it for work. I love the YSL glossy stains so I wanted to try out their new two-in-one formula. I definitely think this product is much better as a lipstick then a blush. It is quite difficult to get enough off the brush to put on your cheeks. I also don't like touching the brush to my cheeks and then using it on my lips. I will mostly be using this as a lip product, but if I was in a pickle on holiday or something I could see it being helpful to have a blush on hand as well. On the cheeks it's quite sheer but not sticky at all, which I had kind of expected it to be. On the lips it's very opaque and shows up like the colour of the packaging. This colour is great for everyday and just adds a nice amount of colour to my everyday makeup routine.
