Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita

I promised when I first showed the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks that I would do a full review and tutorial on how to wear them. I chose two truly "out there" colours – Lolita and the navy blue Echo. My makeup look with Echo is still to come, so stay tuned for that!

Lolita is described as a "chestnut rose" on Sephora's website, where the 0.22 oz lipstick retails for $22 CAD. It's certainly more wearable than a dark navy blue, but it's also not a typical nude or rose shade. The dark brown undertones make this very 90's, which means it's right on trend!

Apparently the formula and colour of Lolita has fluctuated in the past, which Sephora acknowledged and corrected.

Lolita applies with a soft, mousse-like consistency, so it isn't watery or liquid-y. It dries down to a true matte finish and doesn't smudge at all. See it on my lips here:

Wearing lipliner underneath liquid lipsticks is my #1 tip. It evens out your lip colour and texture so that the liquid lipstick comes across evenly. It also prevents your lips from getting stained by the lipstick. Although this formula actually isn't that drying, applying a waxy pencil liner underneath gives a bit of cushion to your lips. Adding a lip liner underneath can also slightly change the colour of the finished look – for example, use a rose or pink lipliner to emphasize those tones.
