Cityline | Fashion Friday

Last Friday my mom, Judy, and I joined the audience for a taping of Cityline at the Citytv HQ in Toronto. Cityline is Canada's longest-running and most successful daytime talk show for women! Tracy Moore has been the host since 2008. Tracy has a really bright and outgoing personality. She made everyone in the audience feel super comfortable by chatting between takes, making jokes and taking photos with us after the show!

The theme of the show changes daily; we were there for a Fashion Friday. Other themes include home decor, personal health and wellness, beauty, entertaining, gardening and more.

Fashion Friday is always a great show, with practical advice on how to wear current trends in fashion and makeup. One lucky member of the audience was selected for a makeover, and the hair stylist walked among the audience, asking who wanted a makeover. I raised my hand and she came over, tousled my hair and asked "How short would I go?".

The stylists definitely had their eye on one lucky audience member, who left with a great pixie cut and fresh, flattering makeup. Makeup artist Dino Dilio also did a segment on how to wear jewel-toned eyeshadows and how to get the beautiful eyelashes (with the help of Benefit Rollerball mascara, lash curlers and single falsies, of course!).

Lynn Spence showed trendy clothes from Forever 21. Lynn has such a fun personality and she joked about having the audience look away while she filmed short promo clips. I'm definitely going to make a point of shopping at Forever 21 soon – really feeling this beaded chiffon kimono and off the shoulder striped top.

Jessica Mulroney also gave a sneak peek of the new GapKids collaboration with Ellen DeGeneres. Tracy's son was one of the models and he was adorable! You can see a photo of Tracy with her son here on her Instagram (@tracycityline).

The episodes are filmed exactly one week in advance, so the episode will air today at 9-10am EST. There were a minimal number of takes, which really helps the show feel "live" and unscripted. The segments are really conversational and the guest experts can focus on what they want to share.

My mom and I had such a blast attending the Cityline taping. If you live in the Toronto area I'd highly recommend going – it's free to request tickets, plus there are always freebies and giveaways! We loved meeting Tracy and seeing "behind the scenes" of one of our favourite Canadian TV shows.
