New In | Charlotte Tilbury Edition

We were thrilled to meet Charlotte Tilbury at her Holt Renfrew launch party here in Toronto, and of course we were also excited to try the makeup itself! If you missed it, read about our experience of the event. The skincare was available earlier so a review on the Magic Cream is already up on the blog!

As for the makeup...

ERIN'S PICKS
We both picked up the Filmstar Bronze & Glow and Powder & Sculpt Brush. This bronzer and highlight palette is probably the bestselling product from the line, and I can see why. I'm so glad that Charlotte has now brought out a palette for darker skin tones, but the original palette works great on fair to medium skin tones like Katherine and I. The brush is described as "rose gold and night crimson" – a vivacious description that Charlotte herself likely came up with!

When I saw the Colour Chameleon Colour Morphing Eyeshadow Pencil for Green Eyes in Bronzed Garnet, I had to look past the "for green eyes" label. I'm not saying that I know better than Charlotte Tilbury, but while I appreciate that many people like the simplified "here's what will definitely flatter your eye colour" approach, I know that burgundy or rust colours suit my blue eyes too. The Clinique Black Honey eyeshadow is one of my favourites that gives a really unique smoky look when smudged around the eyes.

Picking up the Lip Cheat Re-Shape & Re-Size Lip Liner in Pillow Talk was a surprise decision. It wasn't until one of Charlotte's makeup artists applied this on me that I thought twice about this, especially because I don't use lipliner very often (with a few exceptions, like MAC's Soar). I'll have to take a photo wearing this very shortly because I just love how this makes my lips look – full yet natural.

KATHERINE'S PICKS
I was really pleasantly surprised Filmstar Bronze & Glow is actually quite a good colour for my pale skin. I was glad to see it wasn't too dark or muddy and it could easily work when I have my tan on or off. I have been loving the highlighter from this palette and I find it really lasts all day on me. When I was leaving work the other night I could still see a nice glow on the top of my cheekbones. I have been really impressed with the staying power of the CT makeup line! To apply both the products I've been using the Powder & Sculpt Brush. This brush is really great at carving out my check bones yet tapered enough that I can also use it to highlight my cupid's bow.

If you are looking for an eye shadow that will last all day and night the Eyes to Mesmerise Long-Lasting Easy Cream Eyeshadow in Marie Antoinette is amazing. I committed a bit of a skincare faux-pas the other night and slept in my makeup. Yes, I can hear you all screaming now, I feel Caroline Hirons giving me the evil eye. What I did discover, though, is that my eye makeup didn't crease or smudge at all. The formula of the shadow is very light and airy a little go a very long way. I have used it with both my fingers and a brush, and I slightly prefer using my fingers to get the heat of my hands to help work it onto the lids. It is super easy to blend and lasts for ages.

Once I found out that Kate Moss wore Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in Sex on Fire for her wedding day I was sold and I couldn't wait to give this product a try. It is a bit darker than I would normally pick but Tommy the makeup artist we meet at the event tried it on me and I fell in love. It is very pigmented  and you are meant to use the outer colour on your checks and the pop of the darker colour right over the apples of your checks. The lasting power on this product is not as good at the other products I've tried from the CT range but I definitely love the formula and how pigmented the blusher is.
