Finding Your Perfect Eyebrow Shape

Today we'd like to welcome a special guest writer, Amy, to the blog! Her post below details how to reshape your eyebrows to best suit your face shape – ignore the current trend of 'bigger is better' and focus on what flatters you the best.

We've touched on brows before by mentioning favourites such as the Milani Clear Brow Gel, Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil, and the Anastasia Brow Wiz (shown above). Groomed brows are so important for creating a frame for the eyes, and the first step to perfect brows is to decide on the best shape, length and arch for your face.

GUEST POST

Although recent beauty trends appreciate the natural look, not all of us are born with eyebrows like Cara Delevingne and the way you should shape your brows pretty much depends on your face shape. So before you attack your brows with tweezers, study your face shape and find out which arches are your best choice.

Perfect eyebrows for a heart-shaped face
If your face is heart-shaped, you can consider yourself pretty lucky. Who would resist such a gorgeously defined jaw-line? But don’t be too relaxed – your face also needs nicely groomed and not too thick eyebrows. As your chin is naturally accentuated, your eyebrows must feature a gentle arch which will harmonize the upper and bottom face, while a thin shape is definitely not your winning option. Rather stick to a fuller shape, and make sure the eyebrows are neither “too wild” nor overly tweezed.

Perfect eyebrows for a round face
If your face features a rounded shape, you can embrace fuller brows, as long as you keep their lines well defined. You need to make your brows appear less round by making your face look longer. A high arched eyebrow gives a look that elongates the face. If you have thin brow line then avoid highly arched brows and choose soft angled eyebrow similar to those for people with an oval face.

Perfect eyebrows for an oval face
Oval lines are a gift from nature since they fit almost any eyebrow shape. The oval face exudes proportional symmetry, which greatly matches subtly angled and fuller shape, just like Megan Fox's eyebrows. When plucking your eyebrows, make sure they start at the bridge of your nose and go a bit longer than your eye’s outer corner. Be careful when making an arch, since it should begin somewhere after the middle of the eyebrow and continue into a thinner and angled tail.

Perfect eyebrows for a square-shaped face
Squared bottom lines give your face enough curves, so it’s not necessary to have too many curves within the eyebrow area. Therefore, stay away from round shapes or excessively thin brows and opt for neatly groomed eyebrows with a subtly sharp angle. Instead of reaching for makeup, maybe you should think about reshaping your eyebrows. If you’re not very skilled with tweezers, you could consider getting a cosmetic tattoo. Cosmetic tattooing has become very popular in Australia lately, and it is a great way to permanently keep your ideally shaped brows. It’s surprising how much they can change your complete look.

I hope these tips help you choose your perfect eyebrow shape!
