Empties & Mini Reviews

I hadn't thoroughly cleaned out my bathroom cupboard since May, and since I'm moving in a month I knew that it was time to tidy up. Here are my thoughts on the beauty products that I've finished recently!

Korres Milk Proteins Cleansing Wipes – Weekends away justified trying out some facial wipes (right?). I had high hopes for these and wanted to like them (mostly because they weren't cheap). However they were almost dry and couldn't properly clean my face. They were soft so I made them work by dampening each wipe with micellar water.

Neutrogena All-in-One Makeup Removing Cleansing Wipes – These were just okay. Although alcohol-free these still irritated my eyes. Let me know in the comments what your favourite face wipes are so I know what to try!

derma e Hydrating Mist – I reviewed this when it was new to my skincare routine and my feelings haven't changed. It's pricey for the size and I didn't like the tingling sensation from the witch hazel.

Nivea Sensitive 3-in-1 Micellar Solution – If you're looking for an affordable micellar water this could be the place to start. It didn't remove all of my eye makeup in one go, but it left my skin feeling clean and refreshed. Katherine and I both agree that Bioderma is our hands-down favourite but the Nivea one is a pretty good drugstore option!

L'Oréal Age Perfect Anti-Fatigue Toner – This is my second bottle and I'll continue to repurchase. It leaves your skin soft and hydrated, plus it's Hirons-approved. I've decanted mine into a spray bottle to save on cotton pads.

Webber Naturals Extra Strength Omega-3 700 mg EPA/DHA – After struggling with some blemishes earlier this year, I went hunting for advice and came across the notion that Omega 3's help your skin. My skin did clear up, which I've attributed to these and a solid skincare routine.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream – This made it into my April favourites and I loved it down to the last speck. The light-reflective formula helped cover my dark circles.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream – I LOVE THIS STUFF. It's everything that I wanted the Hydraluron Moisture Jelly to be and more. It hydrated my skin without leaving a tacky or greasy feeling, thanks to it being jam-packed with hyaluronic acid. This is the perfect summer moisturizer because of the light consistency (just layer with SPF). This is definitely on my "to repurchase" list.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist – Hydrating toners are lovely, and it's a pleasure trying new ones out. This one fell short. While I like the rose scent, the bottle didn't last very long and it didn't leave my skin feeling any better.

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Pads – I declared this a "hero" acid toner and it really is a great drugstore exfoliator. It contains glycolic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that removes surface dead skin to treat dullness and discolouration. Virtually anyone's skincare routine would benefit from including these.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion – I can't live without the stuff. It's ultra calming and moisturizing. This has made it into nearly every empties post that I've done, plus it's one of my deskside essentials

eos Vanilla Bliss Shave Cream – Previously I just shaved with bar soap so discovering this was a game changer. My summer body care post featured this because it's perfectly for achieving silky smooth legs. I've already repurchased.

L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara – I've resigned myself to the fact that I will never like plastic comb wands in mascaras. This mascara was decent but I won't be repurchasing.
