Erin's June Favourites

I'm going to play right into the cliché and say it – wow, I really cannot believe that July is almost here. The summer is going to be over before we know it! Katherine and I have some exciting things planned for the blog over the next couple of months, plus posts like summer body care to get you ready beauty-wise for the beach/pool/cottage/wherever.

I look forward to this time of the year because it means that once again I'll be a match for some of my darker foundations, bronzers, and bronze-y highlighters. My bottle of the Dior Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup is in the shade 031 Sand, which only suits me in the summer. It contains SPF 15, which is doesn't hurt, but I make sure to layer this up over a dedicated SPF. Why? Most of us don't apply foundation liberally or evenly enough to get the SPF protection that's marked on the bottle. The Dior Nude foundation gives medium coverage with a natural luminous finish (not dewy, just fresh and "looks like skin").

At the top of my summer wishlist is a new fragrance – something breezy, light and fun. The Nest White Sandalwood rollerball perfume comes close, but I'll wear this all year long. It's uncomplicated, with two main notes of almond and white sandalwood. It's quite sweet from the creamy almond when first applied, but it softens into a perfect sandalwood scent. This unisex perfume will appeal to the gals who don't like classically "feminine" sweet/floral fragrances.

Until recently I had never tried anything from the cosmetics brand stila, although Katherine absolutely loves the waterproof pencil eyeliner and In the Light eyeshadow palette. Now both things that I've tried from stila are in my monthly favourites!

The stila Convertible Colours have a cult following, and I can see why. These creamy, blendable lip/cheek products are very easy to use and they actually last on the face. I chose the shade Gerbera, a light peachy pink, which is very pretty. The colour is quite light when worn alone on my lips so I like to layer it under lipstick or a gloss.

To understand my love for the stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Comex Copper you have to watch this ultra-glam makeup tutorial by Chloe Morello. The first time using this I skipped the liquid primer and simply pressed the shadow on with my ring finger – which seems to be the least messy and simplest way to use this. You have to gently press into the eyeshadow because it is very, very soft. I need to play around with it a bit more but this is just so stunning that I had to share.

Have you tried any of these?
