Haulin' (Mostly) Skincare

As I mentioned in my last empties post, I haven't been buying anything lately (beauty or otherwise) because I am saving for my move this fall and also to force myself to use up what I do have. A few days without the Klorane Leave-in Cream with Desert Date and the Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Balm and I rushed out to repurchase. I held back on the Klorane mask because I already have a Kérastase one. Willpower.

Did you join in on the #DearCaroline Twitter chat last Thursday? Caroline Hirons answered my question, shared her personal favourites from The Body Shop, and gave lots of skincare advice. The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist came up and after finishing up a few hydrating toners I decided to give this one a whirl, too.

I tested the Vichy Idéal Soleil SPF 30 Ultra fluid Sun protection on the back of my hand absent-mindedly and walked away... then circled right back. It set quickly to a smooth and dry finish and I can just tell that this will be perfect under makeup.

I completely passed over the makeup when I was last in Sephora  how very unlike me. My arms were quickly full with the Caudalie Gentle Cleansing MilkCaudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum and the Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser. (I had no idea that Tata Harper was sold in Sephora?!) I want to thoroughly test them before telling you my thoughts. But so far, sooo good.

Now I didn't entire forget about makeup! There was one new makeup release in particular that I had to get my hands on... the Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer. See the shade Melon Pop on my lips here via our Instagram (@erinandkatherine). The comfortable demi-matte finish and incredible pigmentation means that these are serious competition for more expensive lipsticks, like Tom Ford.

I've found that high coverage concealers, such as the NYX hi definition concealer or the Collection 2000 concealer, can be dry and chalky on the undereyes. Not so with the Clarins Instant Concealer. My first impression is that it's very fluid and smooth. Like my eye cream, this contains caffeine to perk up the undereye area.

The Hurraw Lip Balm in Chai Spice has a wonderfully authentic scent, from the blend of black pepper, cinnamon, clove, anise, and vanilla. American Apparel carries these all natural/vegan/fair trade balms. I can see why Shannon (on Youtube as Shaaanxo) loves these.

All in all, some high-end skincare goodies rounded out with more affordable standbys. Let me know what you would like an in-depth review on (besides the Tata Harper cleanser, that one is a guarantee!).

Have you treated yourself to anything lately?
