Erin's April Favourites

Listen up, brow fans... The Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil is a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz! Forget about using the dinky plastic brush on the end to comb through your brows... the best part is the price! It's $13, much cheaper than the $21 Anastasia pencil. In store I swatched my Anastasia shade (Taupe, formerly Ash Blonde) and compared it to each of the Sephora shades. 04 Midnight Brown came out as a nearly identical match − cool and not too dark.

I love when products perform exactly as promised, as it is with the Milani Brow Shaping Clear Gel. It's simply a light to medium-hold brow gel with a bristle brush. Plus, it's affordable. I like this much better than the Maybelline clear mascara I've used before because it never clumps hairs together, has a better brush and the tube isn't see through (brow powder inevitably changes the gel's colour).

Marcelle mascaras are consistent winners in the Elle Canada Beauty Grand Prix. I was immediately impressed by the Marcelle Xtension Plus mascara. I usually only like other mascaras once the formula has dried out a bit, but the Marcelle one is amazing right away. Actually it doesn't get better with age, it does need to be replaced every 3 months. One side of the soft plastic brush has a row of longer bristles, so you can use that side to grab farther down the lash. It's a must-try!

I have never bought an eye cream before. Honestly I didn't really see the need for eye creams at my age and thought I would be wasting my money (aren't they just face creams in smaller jars?!). Every day since I received this sample of the Origins GinZing™ Refreshing Eye Cream I've been using and loving it. It contains caffeine, which actually does depuff and brighten the area. I've also noticed that my concealer goes on more smoothly and doesn't crease as much. The full size is definitely on my shopping list!

All year I've been loving the Dr. Perricone No Foundation Foundation in 01 Fair to Light (it made an early appearance in my January favourites). With the (slightly) warmer weather this month I brought this back out, and I think I've found my favourite way to use it − by mixing it with a more full coverage foundation. It's the best of both worlds − a fresh, glowy finish with medium coverage and staying power. Love.

What were you loving in April? Do you use eye cream?
