Disappointing Products

Inevitably there are going to be beauty products that Katherine and I don't love. Still, it's just as important that we share things that miss the mark! Two of these products are an update from a recent haul and while there were standouts (one Pixi primer), there were also some disappointments. Womp womp

I had hoped that the L'Oréal Lineur Intense Brush Tip eyeliner would be a cheaper alternative to the awesome Urban Decay 24/7 liquid eyeliner. The liner does basically work – it's black and sets well – but I just can't recommend it because it is so difficult to use! The brush tip is very flimsy and you need an extremely steady hand. I would not recommend this to beginners or to anyone without endless patience!

Neither Katherine nor I liked the Blinc mascara. Honestly this should have been tossed out awhile ago but I really wanted it to work for me! Just didn't want to give up on it. This is the original tube-technology mascara that forms tiny water-resistant "tubes" around your lashes. The mascara was very wet, so it took ages to dry. Also it didn't give any oomph to my lashes. Have you tried a tube mascara before?

Elizabeth Arden hand cream and Joe Fresh CC cream

I was excited to try the new Joe Fresh skincare range because Katherine and I both love the makeup (the eyeshadows, liquid liner and nail polishes are especially good). The Joe Fresh Universal CC cream was my first choice but I dislike the powdery finish. However, it might be a good option for oily skin types that need a matte finish. Katherine loved the Joe Fresh day cream so I haven't given up on the range yet!

The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Moisturizing hand treatment has a seriously long name. I've raved about the original 8 hour cream and its spin-off night balm before, most recently in my last empties post, so don't get me wrong – I love that stuff (click those links to see why). I expected equally great things of the hand cream. Mostly I just hate the smell, a bastardized version of the 8 hour cream's unique pine scent.

Sorry again for all the negativity! Check out our past favourites for some more favourable beauty reviews  – thinking happy thoughts.
