It's been ages since I talked about "empties" on the blog - in other words, beauty products that I've used up. I'm confident in my reviews after using up the whole product, and it also means that I've reached for these consistently... but would I repurchase?
I cannot get enough of the Caudalie Beauty Elixir! I picked up my first bottle on a whim in the Sephora checkout lane (story told a thousand times), and honestly wasn't expecting much. I didn't like the fragrance at first - it's very "spa" - but have come to love it. I use this as a toner after cleansing or later in the day over makeup to invigorate my skin. My only complaint is that I go through this product really quickly.
The first beauty spray I tried was the MAC Fix+ Spray, which lasted several months. While it doesn't have the same refreshing sensation as the Caudalie spray, this both sets and refreshes makeup really well. I also used it to dampen brushes when applying loose pigments.
The Clarins HydraQuench cream made it into my favourites a few months ago. I really enjoyed this cream, which is geared towards normal/dry skin. I've decided not to repurchase because not only is this cream rather pricey, but the fragrance and jar packaging aren't ideal. The HydraQuench Cream-Mask and the HydraQuench Intensive Serum were bonus samples to try along with the cream. I enjoyed using them but I would need to try the full size before making up my mind.
I've been on the hunt for the perfect serum. Testing out the Avène Sérénage Nutri-Redensifying Vital Serum, Vichy Aqualia Thermal Power Serum, and Hydraluron left me unsatisfied. Ultimately, I didn't see noticeable results with any of these serums despite having heard great reviews - so this definitely works for some people, it just comes down to skin type.
The RoC HYDRA+ Light Comfort Hydrating cream was another OK product for my skin. My sensitive skin really does not agree with fragrance! Otherwise, this was a nice light cream that absorbed well.
It seems that I could have also titled this post "Disappointing Skincare Products"! Aside from the Caudalie and MAC sprays, I won't be repurchasing any of these products. I'm still searching for the best moisturizer and serum for my skin!
What are your skincare favourites? I'm all ears.
