Katherine's January Favourites

January has come and gone and here are the bits and bobs I was loving!

Doing a full makeup look at 6 am before work is sometimes a bit challenging, so this month I started using the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze. This is a cream shadow that you can easily apply with your fingers.  The formulation of this shadow is really creamy and the heat of your fingers helps it glide over the lids smoothy. The lasting power of this product is amazing and it lasts through a crazy day at work and doesn't need to be touched up at all. I would highly recommend this product to girls that are also in a rush. It is so easy to apply that even early in the morning I can muster the energy. I apply this all over the lid and then apply a matte shadow or even MAC's Satin Taupe by Mac into the crease and blend it all out with the Sephora Airbrush Crease Brush.

This brush is super soft and picks up the perfect amount of shadow. I love the quality of the Sephora brushes and with proper care and cleaning (although I know I don't clean mine nearly as often as I should) they will last for ages.

A recent drugstore fave is the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer. I wear the lightest shade 110 Fair. I originally bought the shade 120 which was too dark for me but thankfully even if you have used the product and it's not a good colour match you are able to return it at Shoppers Drug Mart. There has been a ton of hype in the beauty community about this concealer with the likes of Tanya Burr raving about it. So is it really that great?

Yes, it is really lovely. The sponge applicator does take a bit of getting used to but it goes on really smoothly and most importantly covers dark under-eye areas. I love the lasting power of this product - it lasts on me until around 5pm and then it just needs a bit of touching up. I would say this product is spot on with quality and price as a drugstore concealer.

For my birthday the lovely Erin was kind enough to pick up the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers for me. Before these I was using the Revlon ones from the drugstore and holy moly it was like night and day. These bad boys are so amazing - they open up your eyes so well and mascara has never looked better. I was thinking of doing a post comparing the two curlers - would that be something you would like to see?

This month I wanted to try out a new bronzer and have been loving The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in the shade 01 Light Matte.  The packaging for this product is so cute and I love the honey comb details. I also really like that it comes with a mirror which comes in handy when travelling. When I swatched this in the store, it was really light and I didn't think it would show up on my skin at all. But I followed Essie Button's advice and purchased it anyways. When I got home I was so glad I had taken the chance and picked it up. I have very pale skin (redhead problems) and it is such a good match for me. It just adds a great warmth to the skin - which I think is crucial, especially in the winter months. Overall, this is such a lovely product and I would highly recommend it - it comes in a total of 4 shades.

I also wanted to include a jewellery fave for this month. I have been loving my Kate Spade red studs. They add a great pop of colour near the face. These are even great with red hair because it can sometimes be challenging to find a nice red that compliments my hair. These earrings are a winner!

What have you been loving in January?
