Byredo Black Saffron Eau de Parfum

Today I present my new love, Black Saffron, a perfume by Byredo.

A detailed (and poetic) description of Black Saffron is available on the Byredo website. The notes that I detect are raspberry, smoke, citrus, and leather. It's a lush, warm scent that softens beautifully. When I catch whiffs during the day, what strikes me most is that this is a dynamic fragrance.

Lately I've been a little obsessed with fragrance. Recently I shared several of my favourite perfume-related links that have helped me learn more about this area of beauty. I'm a huge fan of the Swedish fashion blogger Elin Kling, if you hadn't already noticed - I've mentioned her in several fashion inspiration posts, imitated her makeup look and longed for her Chelsea coat. So when she mentioned Byredo in her Into the Gloss interview, I immediately wanted to learn more.

Byredo is a Stockholm based fragrance house founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham. Byredo fragrances contain a relatively small number of raw materials, which reflects Gorham's Swedish ethos. He creates fragrances that are "complex in its simplicity", but mostly he wants "people to get it." (Check out his interview to learn more.)

Byredo fragrances are available in Canada at Holt Renfrew counters. Search store locations near you on the website here.
