Erin's Current Brush Favourites

Here are a few of my favourite brushes at the moment - 3 affordable and 3 high-end. From left to right, there's the Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush, MAC 217E BrushSonia Kashuk Fan BrushSephora Classic Mineral Powder Brush, MAC 138 Tapered Face Brush, and finally the Real Techniques Blush Brush

Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush is super affordable and works great for blending eyeshadow through the crease. A similar brush is the MAC 217E Brush, which was part of a MAC Holiday set. The 217E is basically the classic MAC 217 brush flattened on one side.  Check out a review of the entire brush set here (link). Both brushes are awesome, but I prefer the natural bristles of MAC.

The Sonia Kashuk Fan Brush is more of a speciality brush - I use it to apply powder highlighter. I wanted to trial using a fan brush because I wanted a brush that lightly applies highlighter without much thought. Gone are the days when I leave the house with dazzling/shiny/crazy highlighted cheekbones.

I love using the Sephora Classic Mineral Powder Brush (link) to apply mineral foundation but especially the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel (link). It's a very dense brush but cleaning it isn't a problem.

Lately I've been using the MAC 138 Tapered Face Brush to apply setting powder (Hourglass, link) but I want to try using it for subtle contouring. This brush is the softest of the bunch.

Real Techniques Blush Brush keeps me from dreaming about the Marc Jacobs The Bronze Brush (link). I use the Real Techniques brush for bronzer and it's also a great for diffusing contouring and blend in blush. An affordable, durable and multipurpose brush? Yes, please.
