Elin Kling Inspired | Minimal Makeup

Elin Kling is a Swedish fashion entrepeneur, journalist, and blogger (link to Elin-Kling). I was very interested in her feature on Into the Gloss, in which she describes her hair, makeup and nail polish preferences. Her seemingly bare-faced approach - "I like it when it looks like I don’t have any makeup on"- is refreshing and inspired this look.

I don't own all of the products that Elin mentions (and obviously don't look like her), but I used ones that give a similar effect in my opinion. Elin says that she is "obsessed with creamy makeup and products", so that was a major theme.

After moisturizing, I left my face bare except for the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in places where I need it (around my nose, underneath my eyes). I also used the Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer to conceal one poor red mark.

Like Elin, I used the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel in just the same way -  "to contour my face a bit—it adds shape underneath my cheekbones, gives me a little bit of color and still highlights, and it’s creamy." I love the density of the product since its difficult to overload your brush!

Since I don't own Elin's NARS Copacabana Illuminator, the Joe Fresh Highlighting Cream in Ice stepped in as replacement - giving a similar frosty white sheen to the cheekbones. (Also, wow the NARS illuminator looks amazing...)

"Most people think that if you put something on the eye, you need to see it, but I don't. That's why I like putting just a little shading around my eyes." I followed Elin's motto and used only one shade (Naked 2) from the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette in my crease.

"No mascara is a little more modern looking; it’s just fresher." After curling my eyelashes, I really did like the look without mascara but added the smallest amount of the Covergirl Last Blast Length mascara. It's not overboard, but separates and defines my lashes. I think an even more natural look could be achieved with brown mascara (which I don't own).
"I don’t really use blush." So neither did I!

Lastly, I added the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light in the center of my face and under my eyes - only because I wanted to try this new product out! Also, I used the Soap & Glory A Great Kisser Moisture Balm to keep my chapped lips happy.
